At my time working as a Mechanical R&D intern at FRA I contributed to the design, fabrication, and testing of fire‐safety systems and test‐stand instrumentation. I collaborated across mechanical, electrical, and documentation teams to deliver robust prototypes and clear technical deliverables for both internal systems and client's.
Key Projects
BESS Unit Testing
During my tenure at FRA, I adhered rigorously to the UL 9540A fire‐testing protocols to validate BESS safety. From constructing the test rig and installing the thermocouple network to executing controlled experiments and post-processing the data, I ensured that every step met the standard’s requirements. Delivering comprehensive results for our client. To explore the methodology and findings in greater detail, see below.
Custom CNC Electronics
At FRA, I led a one-of-a-kind project to design and fabricate a custom CNC enclosure complete with integrated cooling lines. I developed a system that seamlessly combined electronics with nozzles and pumps, ensuring the user interface/electronics and mechanical components operated in harmony. See below for more details.
4S Pressure Sensor Integration
At FRA I was tasked with optimizing while reducing costs the collection side of a 4S system. Through this project numerous iterations of hardware and software integration with the pressure sensor were performed paired with the hands-on building of the system. In summary, costs were reduced by upwards of 80% per unit while providing an accuracy of +/- 0.25% error.
